Heritage Checked Dress
The heritage checked pattern is sure to continue this coming season too. So if I were you do not rush to store away your checked garments just yet! As seen on the catwalks for SS18 at Balenciaga in the form of voluminous coats and at Victoria Beckham in a more traditional form. Expect to see checked caps everywhere next season as seen at Burberry!
Wyatt has already presented his to his class and said it went rather well. Zeke is doing his today and Eli will do his on Friday. They are all pretty much confident as they have done presentations in front of their classes a numerous amount of times. Practice breeds confidence in my book, that can be said of many things in life. I try to instil this to my boys and they seem to follow it enthusiastically to begin with and then it just gets dropped and left by the side. At this stage I just have to keep reminding them that it will pay off for them in the future.
The same can be said of me, the more I write I find that my writing and vocabulary gets better, I was never into story writing at school more of a numbers person. If I had to chose between English and Maths I would always pick Maths hands down. Having been writing on my blog for the past nine months I have seen the progression I have made. So hopefully there will be more improvement to come in the near future. Thats about it for my little insight for today!
This stunning heritage checked dress I am wearing is from Asos White. The minute I saw this midi dress I knew I wanted it. It comes in this high neck with press stud button details and double D-ring waist belt. This is what drew me to the dress and I adore how you can cinch the waist by adjusting them. I also tied mine at the back just to show off my waist a little more as it was still a little big around the waist for me. Also has a zip-back fastening and these gorgeous long sleeves which become narrower as you come down from the shoulders.
The midi dress is completely my style of dress, I just adore how it sits on my body. Instantaneously makes an outfit look super elegant and polished in my opinion. When a checked dress like this one is so unique and different and so affordable who wouldn’t jump at the chance to purchase it.
Then to choosing what shoes or boots I was going to style with dress. After much deliberations I opted for my black knee length sock boots from John Lewis. I purchase a pair from them every year in the same make. This years pair is slightly different from last years but I actually prefer this years one. The heel is just a tad higher than last years although still a kitten heel and suede as the front is much more thicker than the last ones. All in all a great everyday boot which get plenty of use and I pretty much wear them with most outfits on a regular basis around this time of year. You can see me in them when I am dropping the boys off at school.
As for the accessories I decided to wear one of my many baker boy hats that I have owned for a number of years. I used wear these religiously when I was at university it was my signature look back then during the winter months. This black knitted one that I’m wearing, I bought from Accessorize many years ago. As you can see I have a black theme going with the accessories and therefore when it came to picking the bag with this ensemble I chose this one.
From Karen Millen it is such a cute little bag. Adore the shape of it and that it has these extra straps with the buckles. Certainly big enough to fit everything apart from an umbrella which I tend to carry all year round just incase. On this occasion I can safely say I didn’t need it. Enough room inside for all your essentials and closes with a zip fastening.
Now to my velvet gloves, these are vintage and I cant remember where I bough them from. I can’t believe that I have actually had them that many years and they are still in this great condition. They just work so well with this look and I am glad I chose to wear them.
Rounding of the look, of course I was going to wear a pair of sunglasses with this ensemble. I wanted to wear a pair that would give it some edge and this pair does just that! They are from River Island and I adore the oval shape of them. They sure do make a statement and also help me from getting teary eyed from the wind too!
Finally I wore my go-to nude lipstick yes you have guessed it Adrienne by Chanel Coco Rouge. I cannot emphasise how much I am loving this lipstick, such a gorgeous nude to say the least.

I can’t believe the price of this check dress! The Double D-ring waist belt is so eye-catching and stylish. It makes the waistline so slim. Of course you have a tiny waistline to begin with. always inspired by your look.
