How to pull off a Chanel look with High Waisted Shorts

Summer is officially here and the temperature has been currently at an all time high in the U.K. There is no better time to wear a pair of high waisted shorts than now to show off your legs. Whether your dressing for an evening out or looking for a pair of cutoffs to put on over your bathing suit, you can’t go wrong with a pair of high waisted shorts. Inspired by Chanel, I went for a monochrome look. These elegant white high waisted shorts with a side tie is from Zara. They are very comfortable to say the least and have been keeping me cool in this heat wave.

I have styled them with my Karen Millen ruffles shirt, both the shirt and the shorts are the same tone of white. To give it my own touch to the outfit I have removed the bow that comes with it and replaced it with a Net-A-Porter ribbon to tie in the black and white look. It’s a good thing I kept it to the side, as normally I would have just thrown it away. So you never know when something like this may come in handy!

Here are few ways to wear High Waisted shorts:

Try and choose a pair that is right for you; Sounds obvious I know, sometimes what might look fabulous on someone else might not be the right fit for you. So try them on and see what looks and feels good on you, there are so many varieties to choose from. High waisted shorts not only elongates your legs but also highlights the waist too.

Tuck in your top; Whether your wearing your high waisted shorts with a t-shirt or a shirt, make sure to tuck it in to show off your waist.

Try them with swimsuits; High waisted shorts, especially the nautical ones will look fabulous styled with your favourite bikini or bathing suit. If your like me then you will love this as I tend to wear shorts as cover ups on the beach.

Why not wear them with a cropped top; If you’re not one for showing off your tummy, then a pair of high waisted shorts are just perfect with cropped tops. The only skin people will see is the part between your belly button and ribcage, the slimmest part of most girls’ torsos.

Go for a dressier style: Wear your high waisted shorts like I have done with a dressier vibe. Paired with a shirt and some heels the look is very elegant and stylish, perfect for an evening of fine dining or whatever takes your fancy!

Whether you’re heading to the beach or looking for a pair of office friendly types, there are a number of ways to successfully include the high waisted short into your wardrobe. From denim casuals to smartly tailored pieces. Here are a few of my suggestions of waist-defining shorts. Find denim high waisted shorts (here), (here) and (here).
