When I am in a hurry, which is most mornings when dropping off the boys at school, the casual look is always the fastest and easiest to do. I am very glad to see the oversized trend for spring summer 2017. There are plenty of selection out there from the high end to the high street. When styling oversized clothes it is important to understand the balance between what your wearing on top and what you are wearing on the bottom.
Oversized clothes if styled the right way can look just as chic and trendy as fitted clothes. I love this Zara embroidered oversized shirt with the lapel collar and long sleeves. The shirt features floral embroidery on the shoulders and back, in an A-line silhouette with asymmetric hemline and button-up fastening in the front. This shirt is really pretty and very easy to style. Teamed with jeans from True Religion and I have had these jeans for years and they are just so comfortable. I Customised them to make them a little shorter, they were already ripped and frayed to begin with. In my opinion I think they work well together!
Here are a few suggestions on how to rock the oversized style:
Oversized T-Shirt: Keep it in mind that a casual oversized T- shirt looks just as elegant as the one tailored to your body measurements. Just tuck in the T-Shirt into your shorts or jeans either entirely or just at the front to give it a more casual look. Team it up with either ankle books or trainers to keep the casual look going. Ripped jeans paired with Oversized shirts: Pairing an oversized shirt with ripped jeans is the way to go. Oversized shirts and ripped jeans can make you feel chic and edgy especially when you have added a pair of heels or for a more casual look go for some ballet flats or espadrilles. Belt Up the shirt: Why not wear a belt to cinch you in the waist and give you that hourglass figure. Team it up with some skinny jeans or trousers and some heels to finish the look.
High-Waisted Skirt and oversized shirts: Tucking an oversized shirt under a high-waist skirt is one of the easiest ways to wear an oversized shirt. The skirt will further highlight your waist and slim the shirt in all the right places. Style them with some flats and ballerinas to complete the look. High waisted skirts (here) and (here)
Knot your shirt up: Just gather the bottom of your shirt and twist it on itself to make a knot. This is one trendy look that does not take more than a few minutes to put it together. Team it up with either high waisted skirts or jeans.
To complete my look I have worn these beautiful backless loafers from Dune. They are in a metallic blue colour, with a metal trim vamp detail and finished with a soft faux fur inside.
