Knit Dress

So yesterday morning I was hoping to wear something more lighter and more spring like, however to my disappointment it was pouring down with rain. It was also very windy and the temperature was 7 degrees celsius. Typical British weather for you, its a good thing I had not put my winter warmers away.

It was not going to get me down, my older two boys were playing in the spring concert at school and I could not wait to see them. Bootsy was playing in the Guitar Ensemble and Satchmo was playing in the Clarinet Ensemble. These are the proud moments for parents, watching their children perform. Albeit most of the children were nervous, with the tell tale signs of them tugging at their jumpers, twisting their legs and biting their nails…. you will hear some bum notes but who cares it’s all about them getting that experience of performing in front of an audience.

Out came the knit jumper dress, the tights, stretchy boots, and the coat. This knit dress is from Karen Millen with the zip details at the front and on the lower sides of the dress. It has wide sleeves which can be rolled up and fastened with the buttons or you can just leave them as I have. It is very comfortable to wear and keeps your very warm! Knit dresses are very easy to style in my opinion, all you need is a pair of boots and some tights. The boots can be knee, thigh or ankle high, which ever you prefer. There are plenty to choose from all in different styles.

Few other ways to style your Knit dress:

If it is not that cold enough why not just opt for some boots and socks or opt for over-the-knee boots for a slightly sexier vibe.

Stay super casual by pairing your knit dress with a pair of trainer/sneakers.

To give you a silhouette why not add a belt to cinch you in at the waist.

Leather leggings make a great contrast against a slouchy knit dress. Wear flats to dress it down and some heels to dress it up.

For a more street style look why not add a cool fedora hat and some sunglasses. Finish the look with some ankle boots and a cross body bag.

Adding some black tights and heels can give your outfit a more elegant look.

A longer length knit jumper can look very sexy, dress it up with some heels to give you that instant glamour.

Worn with black tights and stretchy boots from John Lewis, I tend to have very small calves which makes it hard to find a good pair of stretchy boots that stay up and not slouch down all the time. Anyone else have that problem? I have worn this with my fit and flare double breasted coat from Karen Millen. This coat is so elegant and instantly spruces up an outfit. Finally the Modalu Pippa Grab bag.
